What about human power? People are not electrically generated as much as battery-powered. Nor is it a throwaway battery, except in cases of heart transplants. Human batteries need recharging the old-fashioned way, in a charger that has many names: bed, couch, meditation, heart-to-heart, retreat, vacation, coffee break, weekend, afternoon tea, relaxing meal…all moments that can re-energize.
Recharging human batteries involves more than regaining physical strength and stamina, with a few hours of sleep. As important is charging and re-charging spiritual batteries, making time to breathe in special moments, renew relationships, regain perspective, and remember that life is full of details worth noticing and savoring.
Since antiquity, people have honored and consecrated moments of renewal through enjoyment of wine. As religious connector in church, or catalyst for sanctifying time in synagogue, or celebrating special times with family and friends, over heartfelt toasts, wine uniquely elevates a moment. The ritual of raising a glass of wine indicates something special is underway.
Such moments recharge spiritual batteries. They re-energize people: ready to go ...and ready to stop from time to time...to breathe in miracles of life. The key is remembering the importance of stopping to renew and refocus in bringing more great moments to life.
